Justin Elder 17-Dobbs POW!!

By · Comments (3)

Hey Ohana,

Meet Justin Elder.  This is his first year at Ohana and we are pleased to have him on board.  Congrats Justin on earning this weeks POW for the 17-Dobbs.

“I saw Justin play for the first time at the tryouts this season for Ohana AC and was pleased knowing that he may be coming to Ohana.  I knew technically he had what it took to set in the older age groups.  I have never worked with him before this season, so I didn’t know what type of work ethic, attitude or presence he had on the court.  After working with Justin for just the first month, I was blown away with his discipline, focus, and desire to be the best setter in the gym.  Although he may not look the tallest or physically the strongest, he has it in his heart and that can take you however far you want.  Keep it up Justin and Go Ohana!!”- Paul Munoz

“In regards to last tournament, Justin walked on the court during pool play-No messn around-got down to business and handled the teams in their pool.  His team is following the tempo he set and responding well to his leadership on and off the court. Way to step up your game Justin!”- Sheri Sanders

“Justin is really stepping up as a leader on the court…that’s what our team is missing.  He constantly works his hardest pushing not only himself to the limit, but his teammates as well.  He is slowly breaking out of his shell setting a great example for others.  He never talks back as a player and does everything I ask.  Justin strives to make himself and his team great.”- Coach Dobbs

Patrick Henry:

“I’ve been fortunate to coach Patrick Henry for the past 3 years in club volleyball.  It’s been amazing to see his growth in strength, leadership and skill level throughout the years.  Patrick earned this honor because he has played very well for us during the past couple tournaments and leads the team as one of the strongest attackers.  He also earned this honor due to his progression in leadership on the court.  Don’t be fooled by his hight and positioning on the court because his ability to pass the ball stands as one of our teams best passers.  I look forward to seeing Patrick continue to become a great volleyball player”- Paul Munoz

Ohana Moves Up

By · Comments (0)

Hey Ohana,

Following sundays tournament and having time to reflect on our day, I am so happy with the outcome and the moves (upward) that most of our teams made.  Congratulations to…..

16-Barry= 1st place in pool play…….Coach Barry says- “We had a great tournament, decisively winning our pool and continuing to improve.”

16-Munoz= 1st place in pool play………..Coach Paul says-  ”We trained hard throughout the whole week leading up to the tournament.  I created a ton of competition in the gym which forced the boys to “UP” their game.  Going into the tournament, we were excited to play HBC (a team we haven’t played yet) and our “rematch” match against SMBC 15′s (team we had previously lost to).  After making some changs in practice with the line up, I thought I made a good decision with the line up that’s going to give us the best chance to do well.  I thought that we played as a team the whole day and did our best to compete at a consistently high level.  We were so happy to beat both teams we went out to beat.   We aren’t even close to hitting our peak and we have a lot to look forward to.”

17-Rory= 1st place in pool play  and move up division………..Coach Rory says- “I am proud of the way the team has been training this past week.  We have picked up the intensity as a team which allowed us to have a great tournament.  Hard work, dedication, and team work always pays off.  Go Ohana!”

17-Dobbs= 1st place in pool play and move up division…….Coach Dobbs says- “We are focusing on controlling the ball and court awareness before you hit…..YOU ARE ONLY AS SMART AS WHAT YOU CAN SEE”.

14-Elder= Finished 10th at Boys Holiday Classic…….Coach Elder says- “Joe Brown was a force in the middle and setter Colby, continues to work hard at the setter position.  WE are a TEAM on the RISE!!!”

14-Jones= Moving up 8 places!!!……coach Kohl says- “I am very pleased with my teams growth from the beginning of the season up to this point!!!  We had a great tournament at the Holiday Classic.”

16-Tyler= Coach Tyler says- “Theme of the week is being efficient.  Everything we do in volleyball counts.  This past tournament was a great learning experience.”
