It’s going to be a great weekend to get back into the gym for some Ohana volleyball.  I’m excited to focus all our attention on building the 14′s teams and get them to reach a level that we know they should be at.  It’s important that we utilize the time we have in the gym, to making them stronger and more skill developed for the next 3 months.  I’m looking forward to watching them play their hardest this weekend against some good teams.  All my best and Go Ohana!!

First off, I want to thank everyone who participated at Ohana Athletic Club this first half of the 2011-2012 club volleyball season.  I hope you had a great experience and your son became a better volleyball player.  I’m proud of the accomplishments and dedication all the coaches put into each team in order to compete at the highest level possible.  Thank you for believing in a club that’s building tradition and truly cares about each and every kid in the program.  Go Ohana!!

Congratulations to Ohana AC 16-Munoz for earning a “OPEN BID” for Junior Nationals!!!  It’s been a long and trying road, but we did it!!!!  I’m so proud of all the boys hard work and dedication to get into the gym and get better every practice.  It showed and paid off!!!  Congratulations!!!!

“I chose Luke as the POW last week because he has been working hard on and off the court.  Luke is always on of the first kids to practice and last one putting the nets away.  These leadership skills have translated very well into his on court presence.  Luke has become one of our best offensive threats while adding aggressive defense and accurate serving.  Luke is a well rounded volleyball player and was the guy making plays late in the sets last weekend.”-Coach Tyler

“Dominic is a unique player that has an effortless style to his “game”.  Naturally, he’s a big guy with really long arms resulting in him thundering through balls on his attack.  He made the switch from middle blocker to opposite 2 months ago and has worked extremely hard in improving his timing and court presence.  He puts in the reps to get better and it shows on the court.  This is his first year ever playing volleyball and if he sticks with it, he’s going to have a good future in the sport.  TI and play your hardest every point this weekend Dominic!!”-Paul Munoz

“Asher is a big addition to this seasons 14-Elder team.  I remember seeing him at tryouts last season and was bummed he didn’t play, but very EXCITED to see him back in the gym at this season tryouts.  He brings a unique energy to the court that exemplifies that of a relaxed, yet determined leader.  I have very high hopes that Asher continues to pursue volleyball and one day I’m watching him playing college volleyball!!  He’s a pleasure to have in the gym with a very bright volleyball future….if he wants it!”-Paul Munoz

Meet Justin Elder.  This is his first year at Ohana and we are pleased to have him on board.  Congrats Justin on earning this weeks POW for the 17-Dobbs.

“I saw Justin play for the first time at the tryouts this season for Ohana AC and was pleased knowing that he may be coming to Ohana.  I knew technically he had what it took to set in the older age groups.  I have never worked with him before this season, so I didn’t know what type of work ethic, attitude or presence he had on the court.  After working with Justin for just the first month, I was blown away with his discipline, focus, and desire to be the best setter in the gym.  Although he may not look the tallest or physically the strongest, he has it in his heart and that can take you however far you want.  Keep it up Justin and Go Ohana!!”- Paul Munoz

Meet Joe Brown, he’s a starting middle blocker on our 14-Elder team!!!  This is his first year playing for Ohana AC!!  Congrats Joe on your POW acknowledgment!!  Go Ohana!

“Joe Brown came to Ohana very RAW in volleyball.  He has a family connected to volleyball so we knew he had it in him:).  Since he’s only a 7th grader, I know he’s got a bright future ahead of him.  From what I’ve seen, he has made a tremendous amount of improvements since he started at Ohana and I know coach Elder looks to him to become one of the strongest players in the gym.  I can’t wait to see Joe Brown at the end of this season…..I think there will be a ton of heads turning towards him when he hits the ball!!!  Congrats Joe Brown!”- Paul Munoz
